10 relational forces between the Day Master and other elements
The Ten Gods (十星, Sipseong) classify the elemental relationships between the Day Master (Day Stem) and every other character in the BaZi chart into 10 categories, each symbolizing different life domains and psychological tendencies.
The Five Elements interact through generating (生) and controlling (克) cycles. From the Day Master's perspective: same element, element I generate, element I control, element that generates me, element that controls me — each split by Yin/Yang polarity — creates exactly 10 relationships. These are the Ten Gods.
Friend Stars (比劫): Friend (Bigyeon) & Rob Wealth (Geopje) — same element / Output Stars (食傷): Food God (Sikshin) & Hurting Officer (Sangwan) — element I generate / Wealth Stars (財星): Indirect Wealth (Pyeonje) & Direct Wealth (Jeongje) — element I control / Officer Stars (官星): 7 Killings (Pyeongwan) & Direct Officer (Jeongwan) — element that controls me / Resource Stars (印星): Indirect Resource (Pyeongin) & Direct Resource (Jeongin) — element that generates me.
Friends = siblings, peers, competition / Output = creativity, expression, children / Wealth = money, father, romantic partner (for men) / Officer = career, authority, romantic partner (for women) / Resource = education, mother, protection. Ten Gods analysis reveals family dynamics, career aptitude, wealth patterns, and psychological tendencies.
Analyzing which Ten Gods appear in each of the eight characters reveals which energies are excessive or deficient. A chart abundant in Food God energy tends toward creativity and enjoyment. A prominent Direct Officer suggests rule-following and principled behavior.
