Pyeongin
The owl spirit — unconventional knowledge and intuition
Pyeongin (偏印, Indirect Resource) is the Ten God where an element of the same polarity generates the Day Master. Also called 'Owl Spirit', it symbolizes unconventional knowledge, strong intuition, and independent thinking.
Pyeongin appears when an element with the same Yin/Yang as the Day Master generates it. For Jia (Yang Wood) Day Masters, Yang Water (Ren, 壬) is Pyeongin. The 'Owl Spirit' nickname reflects its independent, nocturnal, unconventional energy.
Strong Pyeongin individuals have highly original thinking and sharp intuition. Drawn to niche or unconventional fields (philosophy, metaphysics, arts, psychology) over mainstream academics. Introverted, independent, creative — but may lack practical grounding.
Excessive Pyeongin can suppress Food God energy (Owl steals food, 梟神奪食), blocking creativity and causing financial disruptions. Irregular lifestyle patterns and scattered focus are also common side effects.
